BorderSoul ("we", "us", "our") provides a mobile and web application offering Hindu scriptures, Aarti and ritual content, guided meditation, Sankalpa tracking, festival & muhurat information, and an AI-powered Dharma Guide. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account details — name, email address, and profile photo if you sign up or sign in (including via third-party sign-in providers).
• Preferences — preferred language, chosen deities, favourite Aarti/Chalisa texts, and notification settings.
• Practice data — Sankalpas you create, daily check-ins, meditation session history, and Jaap counter progress.
• Conversations with the AI Guide — questions and messages you send, so the guide can respond and maintain context within a session.
• Support requests — anything you share when you contact us for help or feedback.

Information collected automatically

• Device & usage data — device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and general usage patterns (which features you open, session length).
• Approximate location — where relevant for muhurat, panchang, and festival timing calculations, based on your device's region or coarse location, only with your permission.
• Cookies & similar technologies — on the web version, to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences.

3. How we use your information

• To provide, operate, and personalise core features — scripture progress, favourites, Sankalpa tracking, and reminders.
• To generate relevant, cited responses from the AI Dharma Guide based on your questions and, where enabled, your practice history.
• To calculate accurate muhurat, tithi, nakshatra, and festival dates for your region.
• To send service notifications (streak reminders, festival alerts) — you can turn most of these off in Settings.
• To monitor performance, fix bugs, and improve the app based on aggregated, de-identified usage trends.
• To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your spiritual practice data (Sankalpas, meditation history, AI Guide conversations) to build advertising profiles.

4. The AI Dharma Guide

The AI Guide is grounded in the app's own scripture, ritual, and panchang data. To answer well, it may reference: the question you asked, relevant scripture passages, and — only if you've enabled this in Settings — a summary of your sankalpas, meditation streak, or favourites, so replies feel relevant to your practice.

Conversations may be processed by third-party AI service providers under contractual confidentiality and data-protection terms; they are not used to train public AI models without your explicit, separate consent. You can clear your AI Guide conversation history at any time from Settings.

5. Sharing & disclosure

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers — cloud hosting, analytics, push notifications, and AI processing vendors who work on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BorderSoul, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — if we're involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred, subject to this policy's protections continuing to apply.
• With your consent — any other sharing will be disclosed to you and only happens if you agree.

6. Data storage & security

We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and restricted internal access — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep your device secure.

7. Data retention

We retain your account and practice data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Your rights & choices

• Access & export — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — update inaccurate profile information directly in the app.
• Deletion — delete your account and associated data from Settings, or by contacting us.
• Notification controls — manage or turn off push notifications and emails at any time.
• Location permission — grant or revoke location access from your device settings; muhurat features will fall back to manually-selected region.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act — contact us to exercise any of them.

9. Children's privacy

BorderSoul is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from young children without appropriate parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us data without consent, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. International users

We may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards for these transfers and take steps to ensure your data continues to receive an adequate level of protection.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll provide a more prominent notice (such as an in-app or email notification).
